T his new 2-story, 37,000-square-foot Academic Center was the flagship project for Thomas and is located at the heart of their campus. The new structure contains classrooms and conference rooms, as well as a new café and dining area with adjacent study center. This project also utilizes a geothermal mechanical system.
A tremendous amount of planning was required for this project due to the central location on campus and the fact that we constructed in tandem with a new 32,500 square foot residence hall (Hinman Hall). Sheridan crafted a site plan that would reroute student and pedestrian traffic from residence halls to the existing academic facilities. Temporary access roads were constructed to enter the construction site from the back side of campus to minimize the impact of construction activities on campus.
Sheridan Constructions ability to expedite construction projects and self-perform critical scopes of work allowed us to deliver both the academic center and Residence Hall to Thomas prior to the start of the fall semester.
