The 63,000 square foot field house has an indoor running track with tennis courts on the infield. Designed as an extension to the existing gymnasium, it was joined with a 20,000 square foot connector building with a gallery looking down on the field house, athletic offices and support facilities and locker rooms. The six lane, 200 meter track was built to NCAA specifications with pole vaulting and long jump pits on the side of the track. The inside area of the track accommodates space for three tennis courts.
The construction of the field house completes the sports complex for the University of Maine's indoor sports teams.
